It saddens me to think of all the little children in the audiences at all the KHs world-wide who will listen to these nightmarish words and who will, like my own dear little children did, request to have the light on at night, their doors open, or beg to come into bed with mommy & daddy....

Wha happened -- I think you're spot on about the anger. Whether intentional or not, AAWA comes across as angry. Their name is so off-putting for this reason. It is a negative name. It is a name which would frighten any JW or even a JW with doubts or questions.
Steve Hassan recommends gentleness, kindness, sublety... When you're dealing with MIND CONTROL and cognitive dissonance, you can't throw bricks and gauntlets down, it only drives the person further into that which you want them to get away from.
I do not know Cedars, but I've appreciated many of his posts on his jwsurvey website.
The AAWA video brought me to tears when I first watched it. After seeing it, I couldn't stop crying for awhile -- there was so much emotion in the video! and you could feel and understand the people's pain.
But now.... now it's all gone to shit.
There was a great post (in another thread?) where a person (shoot, can't remember name) said that most people do not want to fight an organization, their fight is for their families. It is a personal fight. Once the family member is rescued or recovered, they're out. They're done. They want to walk away from the WTBTS and JW-world and get on with their lives. Which is why people do not flock to join organizations like "Anti-Scientology" or "Anti-Mormom", etc. This makes sense to me and reflects what most people want and how they want to help and to what extent.- Muddy

Having children is bad
by dissonance_resolved inwent to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.
the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!
it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!

Hey, Data-Dog, here's a link for downloading the pdf file of the Jeremiah book (scroll down). You can see the nastiness with your own eyes.... (may need bleach after)!

Holy sh*t....!!!! Here's a quote from paragraph 4: " Can you imagine the feelings of those who were reduced to cannibalism or those who saw loved ones become mere carrion?" (regarding destruction of Jerusalem)

Rutherford may have been right on one thing.....
by EndofMysteries ini remember seeing a few years ago articles posted about the strange things published that is considered nonsense today.
i remember one was him strongly opposed to anything with aluminum.
it's becoming increasingly mentioned as that being a major link to several autoimmune diseases and alheimers/dementia/etc.

The vaccine issue is one that I've been doing a lot of research into recently. There are many compelling arguments and research *against* vaccination. Again, one needs to hear from BOTH sides of an issue/argument to come to their own conclusion.

I've never forgotten one of Ray Franz's quotes in CoC regarding the extent in which the Society involves themselves (imposes themselves) in people's lives involving LIFE'S MOST PRECIOUS ASSETS -- children (the decision to have or not to have), education, career, use of one's time, choice of marriage mate (or remaining single).... They impose their values and strictures on people for the good of the organization and railroad their members and drive them into the ground while constantly taking, taking, taking from them.
When Rutherford penned his evil tome, "Children", it was later described in a WT as a book which the children in the audience held dear to them, clasping the book to their bosom as something precious and valuble...
The most evil thing about this book was Rutherford's ranting against having any children! The hubris about delivering his special talk toward the children of the audience, and making his book a gift to the CHILDREN in the audience is especially despicable when once again, the aim was for people not to have any children or for these children to grow up and have children.
A people or group or organization who spurns children is a cold, dead, lifeless, heartless beast of a thing. There is no love there or love of life or appreciation of LIFE and future. The GB is like a group of already cold, dead men reaching with skeletal hands to take life from you and make you as dusty and cold and empty as they...- Muddy

So.... omg, my brain is frying here trying to figure this nonsense out.
So... RUTHERFORD (as WTBTS president in 1919) was the FDS=governing body? *HE* was the first one?? He was the one who, after being examined by Jesus, was then approved?? He was the only person on the whole earth who merited the esteemed title of FDS?
And even though there was no functioning "governing body" till the 1970's, somehow there was still a GB in 1919...??!!??? (A GB/FDS of *one*...?)
The WTBTS has taken this parable (to me, meaning only about faithful christians anywhere on the earth, at any time period) and made it into a prophecy full of their loaded terminology and convolutions and weird self-elevation of individuals as a class above other individuals....But, come on..... **Rutherford**??!!??
My mind is boggling. -

Things like this make me very uneasy. I understand "AAWA" is new, is having growing pains. I do not know if all the temperments at the top level(s) of leadership are suited for the position(s). It seems that any dissent or disagreement is handled with the same heavy hand as that of the WTBTS. Don't like us? We'll shut you down, block your post, lock the thread, etc. It also seems that legitimate, reasonable questions are seen as attacks rather than requests for information.
The name and its angry tone does not sit well with me. If recovery, healing, understanding, and support for any JWs who wish to leave the WT organization -- is supposed to be one of AAWA's leading goals, then why not choose a name which has a much more positive focus? Steve Hasson recommends being subtle, gentle... because you are dealing with MIND CONTROL. You cannot open a person's mind who immediately thinks of you as antagonistic, apostate, or anti-WT.
